Exploring the local area – Lady Mary’s Walk

It’s sometimes hard to believe that any other season can be more beautiful than autumn. We know that a stay with us offers our guests ‘on the doorstep’ beauty that is the world renowned Gleneagles Hotel and Resort, however we highly recommend that you explore a little further within the local area.

Our first recommendation is just a short 20 minute drive away where you will find the town of Crieff and the stunning route that is named Lady Mary’s Walk.

This route was named after Lady Mary Murray whose family were local landowners in the early 19th century. The picturesque route through woodland and along the banks of the River Earn features an avenue of mature oak, beech, lime and sweet chestnut trees.

When we walked it, the colour of the trees blazed in their autumnal glory and we can only imagine every season will have a tale to tell no matter when you choose to visit.

The space is relatively flat in most parts and leads to with a wide path which runs parallel to the River Earn. Lots of dog walkers and families alike, not to mention, we reckon, the perfect location for a romantic stroll. A glance to the river and you may catch sight of those peacefully fly fishing.

The background noise of rustling trees, leaves underfoot and the flowing river also adds the perfect backdrop for those in search for some headspace.

All in all it’s the perfect place to teach us that autumn really shows you how to embrace the beauty of change.

Happy Walking….
